Brain Implants and Neuromodulation session
 Dr. Andre Lazano will chair this session within the 9th annual congress.

Andre Lazano  is the Chairman of Neurosurgery at University of Toronto and Senior Scientist, Division of Brain Imaging & Behaviour Systems - Neuroscience, Toronto Western Research Institute (TWRI), Toronto Canada. His team work on novel surgical approaches to treat Parkinson's disease, depression and Alzheimer's disease. We use brain imaging, electrophysiology and surgical techniques.

    Toronto, Canada
     
  • Robert E W Chen, Senior Scientist, Division of Brain Imaging & Behaviour Systems - Neuroscience, Toronto Western Research Institute (TWRI), Toronto Canada 
 
Zachary T. Levine MD, Director of functional Neurosurgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center shares in this 2 minute video his views on the subject and SBMT.

The ABSTRACT Process

If you are making a presentation, please assist us by submitting your abstract(s), this is the information to be used in Congress materials. 

  • Your primary submission is a 250 word text abstract.
  • The abstract should generally be organized as Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
  • Authors may also submit an optional, supplemental file not to exceed 2 pages. This file may include images, links to videos, and other additional information.

Submit your abstract for 9th Annual Congress by March 15, and as an added incentive,  you will be entered in a drawing for a IPad2.

 
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Identify new findings in brain mapping (BM) & intraoperative surgical planning (ISP) most relevant to their own sub field (i.e. molecular imaging and or biophotonics);
  2. Describe the effect of the newly developed methods in medical imaging, medical devices, nanotechnology, stem cell/cellular therapy;
  3. Discuss and design the possible future research and developments in BM, ISP and Nano-Bio-Electronics and assess the possible impact of such research and development on their own clinical and scientific work in the future;
  4. Describe and assess the latest cutting-edge technological advancement in BM & ISP such as emerging field of nano-bio-electronics (integration of nanotechnology with stem cell/cellular therapy, medical imaging and medical devices);
  5. Explain ways to build a bridge amongst multiple disciplines;
  6. Educate the audience about the advancements in other disciplines and explain how such advancements could help them formulate new diagnostics and treatment modalities;
  7. Discuss and describe governmental agencies, foundations, and industry roles in research and development of the field.
