[Editorial] A collaborative approach to headache classification

A good classification system promotes increased understanding of diseases; the latest edition of the successful International Classification of Headache Disorders, published by the International Headache Society ( IHS) in June this year, is therefore a welcome step forward. Previous versions of the classification have been crucial for clinical practice and for facilitating research, and the new revision promises to provide a more comprehensive set of criteria and increased clarity. This third revision of the classification is published as a beta version ( ICHD-III-beta) for field testing.
